The genocide in Rwanda di Alessia Fia

THE SPECIAL RWANDA COURTS AND THE GACACA

August 1996: the Rwanda government has founded twelve special courts to certified the Genocide.

2001: the Gacaca or “popular courts” are installed for the judgement of smaller Crimes in Genocide[S1] [S2] [E1] [E2][F1][F2][I1][I2].

In 2003 the various gacaca have been able to begin their activity: they standed the whole list of names and addresses of those people that have been killed among 1990 and 1994 and their suspects homicides.

Although the installation of these courts is characterised by continuous intimidation and by the witnesses of homicides, nevertheless their institution constitutes a great opportunity to the born of Democracy.
